Keeping Gaelic Games Thriving in North America Founded in 1995, St Josephs bring Gaelic Games to Silicon Valley on the peninsula between San Francisco and San Jose. Our club owes its existence to a large Irish population living in the valley. Keeping our great sports alive is a very effective way of maintaining our community's identity, which is our contribution to the ethnic diversity for which the state of California is renowned. To our north the City of San Francisco hosts an even larger Irish population which is able to sustain several GAA clubs. The result of this is that every year the San Francisco Bay area is the scene of a fiercely contested championship organised by the Western Division of the GAA's North American County Board. Our club takes these championships very seriously, and the dedication of our players has achieved impressive results in the past:
If you are a local person who wants to play a different kind of sport and push your fitness to the limits, or an old hand from Ireland, we will happily welcome you into our ranks. Come and join us! |
